Why I’m in the Gym Everyday
Announcement
This is my official public announcement that I will be competing in a bodybuilding show next year! I will not announce which one yet for personal reasons, but let it be known that I will be training for said event.
How It’s Going
I am still very early in this journey but so far it’s going great! I am sore and it’s been hard adjusting to my new dietary needs but I trust that I will make adjustments and small improvements each week. I feel strong and already have a solid starting point. I pray that a year is enough time to get me in shape for the competition. Most of my needs are met at my apartment’s gym, but I might have to move to a commercial gym for specific machines to target my legs.
Why I’m Doing This
Although I can get competitive, I have to remind myself that I am simply doing this for myself. I don’t really care where I place as long as I am proud of how I look and pose on stage. I have always struggled with insecurity when it comes to my body and I want to finally change that this year. The only way I know how to get myself to stick to a goal is to set a high benchmark. I thought, “what better way to get myself to be in shape than to commit to entering a bodybuilding competition?”. Even if I come in last place I will be guaranteed to be in the best shape of my life and that is something that I can be truly proud of.
Also to clarify, I am not planning on getting huge. The competition that I will be joining will be focused on equal proportions and definition of the body and its muscles. An aesthetic that I would like to have. I am also not joining an untested league, meaning the competition that I will join will be full of all natural bodybuilders. That way I have a fair shot and don’t try to compare myself to those who use Performance Enchancing Drugs.
The Outcome
Like I said, I’m simply hoping on getting into the best shape of my life. I am excited to try hard to be disciplined in something and see the many ways that I will grow and mature along the way. It’s good to have goals and something to look forward to. I am also considering writing a book about this experience that includes journal entries along the way from inception to stage time. In said book I will reflect on my experience and what I have learned.
