Band Highlight: Dogpark
That’s right, I do talk about more than mere books on this blog. Bands, too! Music is so important to me and of course to my writing. I make soundtracks on Spotify to all of my book releases, after all.
This week’s band that I would like to Highlight is Dogpark from Brooklyn NYC. They supposedly got their start performing at frat parties at the University of Richmond in Virginia however their sound is much more polished than what that might suggest.
Although it’s hard to truly describe a unique sound, I could compare this band to that of Coldplay, early Maroon 5, The Strokes, yet it is still completely unique. The vocalist, Eamon Moore, has haunting vocals that remind me of Chris Martin although he is not British himself. The internet however, seems to deem him reminiscent of Jeff Buckley. I can’t say that they’re wrong.
The genres of their limited catalogue swing from Jazz Fusion, to Alt Rock, to Grunge, to Pop. It’s truly a fun ride if you go through their discography. All songs carry a similar “Dogpark” spirit, despite the everchanging sound.
Though they are in their early years and lack a full studio album, I am very excited to see the future of this band (or hear their future, rather) and I hope that they are not simply a fad.
